Partnerships for Prevention of Gender-Based Violence in Southern Africa (PfP) is a regional project on primary prevention of gender-based violence (GBV) implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in southern Africa.
The key principles of PfP are to alter social norms and practices that instigate GBV and to promote multi-stakeholder partnerships for joint implementation of prevention activities to leverage financial and technical contributions of various actors.
Considering the magnitude of GBV in the region, a broad-based effort is required. PfP aims to strengthen cooperation between governmental, non-governmental and private
sector actors in order to prevent violence against women and girls in Southern Africa, particularly intimate partner violence.
The approach puts innovation and sustainability at its centre: capacity strengthening, innovative flagship projects for preventing GBV set up as multi-stakeholder partnerships, research and regional exchange are the essential parts of PfP’s engagement.
