The Social Innovation Lab has been launched in Lesotho. Now the initiative counts five southern African countries, all engaged in finding out new solutions to address GBV prevention in the region.

On Tuesday 12 September, the regional programme Partnerships for Prevention of Gender-based Violence in Southern Africa (PfP) kicked off the Social Innovation Lab initiative.

The Sexual Violence Research Initiative (#SVRI) Forum 2022 is the most important global conference on innovation, practice and research on violence against women and violence against children in low- and middle-income countries, which was held this year in Cancun, Mexico from 19-23 September. PfP was there as active participant and sponsor.

The rate of violence against women is particularly high in Africa, with nearly half of the continent’s countries reporting a prevalence of more than 40%, according to the United Nations’ The World’s Women 2015: Trends and Statistics.
