Overview
The Conference
The Conference on Advancing data and evidence for Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Prevention and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) in Southern Africa Region aims to bring together policymakers, researchers, practitioners, and civil society organizations working in the field of gender equality, GBV prevention, SRHR and data analysis. The conference will provide a platform for sharing knowledge, experiences, and innovative solutions on utilizing data and evidence to address GBV in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region.
The conference will explore strategies for leveraging data and evidence for GBV Prevention and SRHR in the region that also promote gender equality, empower women and girls, strengthen health systems, provide accessible and youth friendly SRHR services, and foster a culture of non-violence and respect for human rights.
Addressing the challenges with data for GBV prevention, including SRHR, in the SADC region requires concerted efforts from governments, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders. By addressing these challenges, the SADC region can improve data collection systems and generate comprehensive and reliable data that informs evidence-based strategies and interventions.
The conference is hosted by the SADC Secretariat and the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ), in partnership with the European Union (EU), Ford Foundation, Sweden, and the Sexual Violence Research Inititiative (SVRI).
Participation to the conference is by invitation only.
